About Swan Appliances

Swan is a name many people likely have heard of you might even recognise its logo, but the Swan that exists today as changed significantly. Swan was a brand under the ownership of Bulpitt & Sons Ltd and in 1920 they began producing electrical appliances and over time their range expanded to include washing machines, cookers, ovens and much more.

Swan was seen as a traditional British success story but over time the brand began to struggle. The French business Moulinex bought the brand in 1988 but it went bankrupt in 2001, just a few years after the original founder Bulpitt & Sons Ltd was dissolved. The Swan brand still exists but is now an in-store label for Littlewoods.

Common Swan faults

Swan was once a very respected brand with a lot of influence in the UK’s appliance market. However, since the Swan we know now is very different from what it once was there is certainly a higher chance of faults.

The newer Swan appliances are more budget-friendly in design, while the older “traditional” ones could suffer from wear and tear due to age. No matter what type of Swan appliance you have common faults to be aware of include things like faulty electrics, damaged switches, and leaks. Of course, this will all depend on the type of appliance you have but no matter what the fault or problem is our team can help.
