Why has my cooker hood light failed?

This is a very common problem and sometimes it’s more than just a case of changing the bulb. In many cases the plastic clips that secure the bulb in place get burnt causing the bulb to become loose and in some cases drop on to your hob. Electronic modules can also fail. Please remember that cooker hood lights are only supposed to be used over short periods, do not use them as an alternative light source. Instead, only use them for short periods whilst you are cooking.

Why does my cooker hood have poor extraction?

This is a common problem for newly installed cooker hoods. The likely cause is a faulty fan motor however if the fan fails you will receive no extraction whatsoever. So, if your cooker hood is still extracting, be it at a much lower rate, then the cause is probably a fault vent on the exterior of your house.
