Zanussi – Italian improvisation and development
Zanussi has grown from a small Italian business that built wood burning ovens and stoves just after the turn of the 20th century. Founded by Antonio Zanussi in Pordenone, Northern Italy, the company has seen radical change and advancement in its development. By the early 1950s the company started to diversify into gas and electric and then towards the end of the decade in 1958, they started to manufacture their first washing machines. Zanussi was bought by Electrolux in 1984.
In designing the first supermarket freezer, the Freezermaster™ Rex, Zanussi led the way for freezing to become part of mainstream food storage in the home.
When it comes to innovation Zanussi have incorporated what their competitors are doing well and left out what doesn’t work. This means that their simplified approach includes technology that makes a difference, but not the whistles and bells that may be considered clutter by the target market that they serve.
Zanussi produce white goods for the entry and mid-level market considering practical needs over high tech. Their white goods are nevertheless highly efficient with A+ ratings and they can compete with all of their competitors with their excellent development in design.
Zanussi™ dishwashers cover every possible consumer need. Whether a single person living in a tiny flat or a large family living in a mansion house, they have created a model that will suit. Unusually Zanussi have exceeded the range of their competitors in dishwashers by manufacturing both compact and slimline dishwashers providing a greater choice for those with very little space to work with. While they also manufacture standard free standing machines, their foray into the world of integrated dishwashers must be making a dent in the sales of other entry and middle level manufacturers. With a focus on design and styling over the last decade Zanussi™ machines do not look out of place in modern or refurbished homes and in fact often enhance the kitchen at a reasonable cost. As can be expected with most machines most of their recent models are electronically controlled and easy to use.
Fridges and Freezers
When it comes to cooling Zanussi have repeated their approach in terms of diversity. Apart from producing outstanding fridges that have developed a workhorse reputation they have again appealed to wider market. With chest freezers that make increased perishable food storage a reality to compact table top freezers for that single person where space is a premium, they have the product for everyone. The design considerations are obvious with transparent drawers in all their upright freezers whether integrated or standalone, finding things is no longer guesswork.
So, whether your fridge or freezer needs to be standalone, integrated, compact, chest or under counter, Zanussi™ have one for you.
With washing machines Zanussi have again dared to tread where many other manufacturers wouldn’t have even developed a compact washing machine for smaller spaces and people that have smaller load needs. This machine has a maximum load of 3kg and will fit into some of the smallest domestic kitchen or utility spaces. Of course, they also produce standard, standalone and integrated washing machines and washer dryers. So being spoilt for choice is no longer a surprise. Perhaps what appeals most to their loyal customers is that together with the diversity on offer their machines are rated A+++ in terms of energy consumption, meaning that they seem to have managed to tick all those important boxes both industrial and in terms of consumer needs.
While they have not managed to develop a compact dryer yet, Zanussi are still highly competitive in their dryer range. They compete with the other top brands by producing both integral and standalone dryers. They also have managed to offer vented, condenser and heat pump dryers that exceed many of the energy classifications of their competitors while still retaining an affordability factor.
With less ironing by reducing the crease using a condenser to the right time for the right load using a heat pump dryer, consumers know that they cannot go wrong with a manufacturer that has provided or several generations. That’s why you may well find Zanussi machines in the home of several generations of a single family.
