Frequently Asked Questions
There are several things that can go wrong with an American fridge freezer. To help you understand a possible cause before giving us a call, please have a read through these frequently asked questions.
Why is my fridge freezer overheating?
Faults with the electronic or electro-mechanical systems are the usual problem here. However, if airflow enters the freezer it can cause a similar issue. Electro-mechanical thermostats are fairly easy to check multi-meter. They work by turning off when a temperature is reached but if they are broken then the fridge freezer will overheat.
This is a problem we can address and resolve on the spot. Although there are many different types of thermostats, we have a wide range in stock so if you can identify the problem and let us know which type of thermostat you have we will undoubtedly be able to help.
Why doesn’t my fridge freezer cool?
Both the fridge and the freezer can have issues cooling. Like overheating, it can be caused by thermostat issues, however there are other possible causes too.
For example your appliance could have an electronic failure or faulty compressor PTC or relay. A blockage of gas pipework will lead to either the fridge or the freezer section not working.
Why is my fridge freezer leaking water?
First things first, check that nothing has spilled inside your fridge freezer. Next, you might want to see if the defrost tray on compressor is damaged or overfilled. If over filled you could probably sort this out yourself, but if it’s damaged you’ll need to give us a call.
Hopefully you now understand a little more about some common fridge freezer issues, but if you’d like to know more or want to hire one of our engineers please you our easy online form or alternatively give us a call on 0207 183 6944.
Please be aware that although some small problems can be solved fairly easily by yourself, we strongly advise that you call our engineers because trying to fix fridge freezer yourself can be dangerous and lead to large problems if not done correctly.
