Most Common Dishwasher Issues That We Fix

While we can spend all the money we want on a top-of-the-line dishwasher, appliances will eventually break down.

There’s no real rhyme nor reason as to when or why this happens, other than that appliances are not built to last forever. In fact, an expensive dishwasher can break down multiple times, while a budget-price unit can last over 10 years without running into an issue.

While it is the case that higher-end dishwashers are built with better materials and, as a result, are more durable, our many years of servicing dishwashers has lead us to believe that no make or model is free of problems.

At Repair Aid, we specialise in fixing any and all dishwasher issues – whether they’re freestanding, integrated or semi-integrated models.

To find out more about the issue that your dishwasher currently has, we’ve compiled a list of the 8 most common dishwasher problems that we encounter. To learn more about a particular issue, just click on the relevant icon below:

Leaking

There can be a number of reasons behind a leaking dishwasher – whether it’s the pump, the door or the hose – but the results can end up the same: water damage to your surfaces.

Not Starting

You’ve got a whole heap of plates that need to be washed – but the dishwasher doesn’t want to do them. Far from being a conscious objection to labour, there may be a problem with the drive motor, the door or other internal components.

Not Cleaning

If there are still bits of food and debris all over your dishes at the end of a cycle, then there could be a number of explanations: ranging from a faulty spray arm, to a clogged filter or to using the wrong detergent.

Not Draining

Dishes are hardly appealing when they’re submerged in murky, dirty water. Unfortunately, that can happen when your dishwasher isn’t draining properly – which is, unsurprisingly, often due to a problem with the unit’s drainage system.

These are just some of the most common dishwasher problems that our engineers are called out to fix. Thankfully, we’ve got a pretty good team working at Repair Aid. In fact, we’re able to fix 99% of dishwasher issues on our first visit.
