Formed by the HI group Fridgemaster, as mentioned previously, was designed to offer a cheaper more budget-friendly alternative to other popular big name brands in the UK. While the brand was popular for some time their founders the HI group was shut down in down in 2012 which had a big knock on effect to the Fridgemaster brand name.

However, Fridgemaster is still activate today in a limited form as the brand was bought by the Chinese company HiSense Kelo. While Fridgemaster appliances are rarely seen in shops today there is still a great many of them in use and they are a big fixture in second-hand appliance shops.
