Common Refrigerator Issues That We Fix

Refrigerators are, quite possibly, the strongest built of all common household applications. They need to run 24/7, for years on end, and they also need to tolerate constant cold temperatures over that period of time.

Despite all of this, every make and model of fridge is susceptible to breaking down throughout its life cycle.

It’s true that certain fridges are more robust and have been constructed using better quality parts, and these fridges tend to be the most expensive options, but price is not protection against issues and problems.

In our experience, over a decade of servicing  fridges, we’ve found that no matter the make or model, refrigerators run into problems.

Mercifully, many refrigerator problems are actually quite common and can be repaired in just one visit by a trained technician.

If you’d like to know more about the issues that may be causing your fridge to run into problems, we’ve put together a list of the 6 most common issues that plague fridges. Just click the relevant icon below to find out more about a particular problem:

Refrigerator is Leaking

This could be something as simple as the door seals needing regularly cleaned, or a bit more complicated – like a damaged water inlet valve requiring replacement.

Refrigerator will not Start

A serious issue that can potentially not only cost you in repair fees, but can result in you having to buy your weekly shop all over again. Past checking the fuse, it’s advisable to get in touch with a repair technician as soon as possible.

Refrigerator is too Warm

A less pressing issue, but nevertheless an annoying one that can shorten the lifespan of your groceries. It’s always worth cleaning the door seals to see if the fridge isn’t shutting properly, but it’s likely you’ll need to have it repaired.

Refrigerator is too Cold

A more difficult issue to spot – given that we think fridges are supposed to be cold – but if your fridge is reaching sub-zero temperatures, then you might have a problem with food freezing over. This is likely a temperature control or fan issue.

A couple of other common issues that we also encounter relate to fridges getting too noisy, or fridges that work too long and too hard.
